Teaching

Growing together through music.

Mia grew up in a musical family, beginning her musical education at five and violin at six. Over more than a decade with the Taichung City Youth Symphony Orchestra, she grew from ensemble member to teaching assistant. Rehearsing, listening and sharing the stage with others became the foundation of her approach to teaching.

While studying at National Taiwan Normal University, she continued attending international music festivals. At Northwestern University, her master’s studies included violin pedagogy, hands-on teaching and the Suzuki Method, bringing performance training and teaching practice together.

During her first year in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mia taught more than seventy students each week, working with different ages and learning needs. At California Conservatory of Music, she also launched beginner group classes, helping students build their foundations through shared discovery.

To bring the joy of ensemble learning to adults, Mia founded Rhapsody Ensemble, a platform for violin study and group performance with concerts every six months. As a violin faculty member at De Anza College, she has also brought adult and college ensembles together in concert.
